Evermore Review

Evermore
By: Alyson Noel
Pages: 320
Genre: Paranormal Romance

After a horrible accident claims the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever can see people's auras, hear their thoughts, and know someone's entire life story by touching them. Going out of her way to avoid human contact and suppress her abilities, she has been branded a freak at her new high school, but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste.
Damen is beautiful, exotic, and wealthy. He's the only one who can silence the noise and random energy in her head - wielding a magic so intense, it's as though he can peer straight into her soul. As Ever is drawn deeper into his enticing world of secrets and mystery, she's left with more questions than answers. And she has no idea just who he really is - or what he is. The only thing she knows to be true is that she's falling deeply and helplessly in love with him.

I was at the bookstore with my friend , and she picked up this one and started telling me how good it was and how it was about a boy who is immortal, and he keeps falling in love with the same girl reincarnated over and over.  I thought, Wow!, I have ten bucks to spend this one sounds really good.  I wish I had hadn't.
I couldn't finish this book.  I had just gotten to a racy part, and I was like WHAT THE HECK!  This girl doesn't even know this guy.  At this point I restrained myself from dropping the book on the floor and leaving it there (after all I spent good money on it), I gave it to my friend to read for her opinion because she loves vampires, and twilight.
This actually occured almost two weeks ago, but the book was so bad that it took me this long to get my thoughts together.
The charecters were so fake.  Ever's (lame name by the way) friends were so unbelieveable.  I believe that people underestmate teens a lot.  But the teens in this book acted like fifth graders, I was disgusted.  Ever was so confusing, one moment she was making a rather adult connection, then she was over come with longing for this random guy she doesn't know, then she was pissed at him, and the cycle contuines.
Not to mention that the plot was so stupid.  The enemy is so mysterious, and doesn't even seem to have a reason to dislike Ever at all.  The whole immortal paranormalness is lost in the angsty romance.
As for theme, I didn't get into the book enough to get a theme, but Damen was constantly trying to get Ever to do bad things.  What kind of theme is that?  Okay kids as long as you have good luck, good looks, and gamble your life will be awesome.  This probably isn't the theme, but that's what it seemed like to me.  NEVER is it realistic to let the main charecters discuss quitting school, and supporting themselves off of gambling.
DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK, unless, you have read this book first, you are a huge twilight fan, and you are willing to waste ten dollars.

Cover: 7 - loved this cover, it was one of the things that drew me in
Characters: 4
Plot: 3
Theme: 2
Overall: 3 -I think that rating was nice.

  1. I hated this book, too. You're right... the characters are pretty fake. Stereotypical, really. I thought the whole thing was basically a Twilight rip-off. You can read my review for this book here.

I wouldn't recommend the next book in the series, either. It's even worse.
